Illuminata’s research revolves around the core infrastructure that provides computing and information services to enterprises and service providers. Our perspective looks up the technology stack, from user devices such as PCs and mobile phones, through backend servers, storage, middleware, and networks.

However, this enterprise-wide perspective is so large that it’s difficult to talk about it all at once. Therefore, we have broken down our research into four focus areas:

• Application Strategies - Developing, deploying, and updating effective, engaging Network age apps and services;
• Computing Foundations - Building dynamic, always-on foundations for IT services;
• Infrastructure Management - Gaining control over, and optimizing, sprawling IT infrastructures; and
• Storage Strategies - Storing, protecting, and accessing your most valuable asset: information.

In practice, each focus area overlaps and is interconnected with the others. Therefore, you will see some concepts more than once: for example, virtualization is a server concept, a storage concept, and a network concept. We pride ourselves on taking a holistic, integrated, and non-siloed approach.

In describing focus areas, we further highlight:
