Mr. Haff focuses on computing infrastructure issues with a special emphasis on enterprise servers, datacenter interconnects, operating systems, server blades and appliances, virtualization, power and cooling, and the overall evolution of computing architectures. In addition to following Linux, he also covers broader Open Source and software trends including their implications for business models, software licensing, client devices, collaboration, and application development and deployment. Mr. Haff has more than 20 years of experience researching and using enterprise servers and workstations, their operating systems, architectures, processors, physical packaging, and supporting services. As a product-marketing manager at Data General, Mr. Haff helped launch many products and server designs including AViiON servers that ranged from large-scale NUMA-architecture Unix systems to rack-dense Windows-based servers. Mr. Haff holds engineering degrees from M.I.T. and Dartmouth, as well as an MBA from Cornell University.
